High Holidays 5768-2007

For the second year, we conducted our High holiday services in the PGA Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens.

The service was conducted in hebrew and had a running explanatory service in english so that everyone could understand the prayers and be aware of the proceedings.

The services were followed by delicious kiddush luncheons as well as a break the fast after Yom KIppur prepared by a team of ladies and co-ordinated by Rebbetzin Chana.

The holidays were preceded by an online registration system that enabled people to register in the comfort of their home while exploring our Shul programs and approach on our website.

Shana Tovah- may this year bring us all peach and prosperity!

Chabad In The Gardens brought the amazing Model Matzah Bakery to Palm Beach Gardens and its environs. The Model Matzah Bakery is an exciting educational and fun experience for the entire family in which participants are able to experience the story and art of Matzah Baking. It features wheat stalks, brick ovens, millstones, etc. which are all setup to form an old style Matzah Bakery. Dressed in baker's hats, participants will help with the entire process of Matzah making which will include winnowing, threshing, grinding, kneading dough and making their own Matzah.

Participants had the unique opportunity of a hands on educational experience that has added holiday spirit, fun and education for all who attended. ******************************************************

Chanukah at Chabad in the Gardens:

Upon entereing the Canterburry room in the prestigious PGA Hotel, the crowd immediately came upon a giant goblet full of .... dreidels of course!!  This was a competition to see who could estimate the right number of dreidels in the goblet.  At the end of the event  the winner was Ms. Jill Chase.  Though the correct number was 296, she won the prize with the closest estimate of 300 dreidels.  Jill was presented with a beautiful silver Menorah to adorn and illuminate her home for years to come.

As they entered the hall, guests were greeted by a strolling magician who delighted both young and old.  Whilst they tasted the delicious Kosher food, the balloon man was fulfilling every conceivable request from kids and adults alike! We even had some green aliens join our party! However, the most spectacular balloon created, was the breathtaking 4 ft. menorah created entirely with balloons (don't try lighting that menorah!).  After everyone decorated their own doghnuts and the kids wrapped up their arts and crafts, Judah the Maccabbee made a surprise appearance and taught the crowd how to make real, freshly squeezed olive oil!

A special video presentation was shown about the worlds wildest and wackiest Menorahs.  From a chocolate menorah in California, an elephant menorah parade in India to a gondola menorah in Venice, Italy, but the coolest menorah of all was undoubtedly the 9 ft. ice menorah created by Chabad of Norway (yes, there are Jews up in the Arctic Circle too!).

The Menorah was lit by the honorable Mr. Eric Jablin, currently a counsel member and former Mayor of the city of Palm Beach Gardens. the crowd then broke out in lively dance celebrating the joy of Chanukah.

With almost 200 people in attendance, the party was a smashing success! To view the photo's, click here.
